I am currently working toward my Master of Arts in Music Therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. My coursework there has included advanced improvisation techniques, studies and a practicum in using music and imagery for wellness, and courses in assessment and music psychotherapy. Future courses include studies of music therapy in medical settings. I earned my degree in Music Therapy from Eastern Michigan University. I completed my six-month internship at The Center for Discovery, where I provided music therapy services to children who are severely and multiply impaired. I see private clients in my studio, and contract with several schools and organizations to provide music therapy services. At The Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts, I lead sessions to groups of children who have special needs. I also teach flute and recorder to traditional students and those who have special needs. At the University of Michigan Silver Club, I lead a weekly music therapy session for older adults who have dementia. At the Building Bridges Therapy Clinic, I lead weekly and bi-weekly music therapy groups to preschool and school-age children. I also offer private therapy sessions to individual clients. At Creative Arts Therapies, I have held several contracts to school systems. I have led music therapy sessions to preschool children, including many English Language Learners in Detroit, as well as children who have physical disabilities, emotional impairments, and developmental delays. |
